30 Miles: 30 Victims of Child Sacrifice: Miles 1, 2, &3

My Little Brother Jabel walking 52 kilometers last year
On October 6th we are walking 30 miles as part of an ongoing campaign to "End Child Sacrifice" (ECS) in Uganda. As promised, in the next 10 days, I will introduce 3 stories for 3 miles everyday. Walking 30 miles is an infinitely small amount of time and energy compared to 30 lives!  But for everyone who is walking, or is supporting us, or is helping us spread the word, we will make every step and minute count.  Here are 3 miles and 3 lives.

Mile 1: ELDRINE, M.; Age: 4 (M); Deceased. Eldrine was reported missing on 03/07/06 at Old Kampala Police Station. His parent is reported to be a boda boda rider of Lunguja, Kampala. Eldrine used to attend Step Nursery School. He went missing on 3rd July 2006 from the garden of one of the suspects, a Mr. Kintu Mapera at Lusaze, Kampala. Postmortem indicated Eldrine died of strangulation. It is suspected that Kintu was tasked by a Dr. Nadhume to look for a child to sacrifice for his new building under construction by then. Kintu was convicted on his own plea of guilty and was sentenced to 70 years in November 2010.

Mile 2: MACKLINE, N.; Age: 2 (F); Deceased 12/08/07. Mackline's family was from
Busala Village; Iganga District. Missing persons report was filed at Nakabugu Police Station CRB 108/07. Parents: Undisclosed. Mackline was murdered and her body was found in a nearby maize garden with some parts of the body including private parts, tongue, liver and kidney missing. 4 suspects including the grandfather of the deceased, Munyagwa Lason (70yrs) and his wife, Mwogeze Jane (45yrs) were charged with murder. Case still in high court. Hearing date yet to be fixed.

Mile 3: JOSEPH, K.; Age: 12 (M); Deceased 27/10/08. Missing persons report was filed at Masaka Police Station. Parents: Grandfather: Matia Mulondo. Joseph disappeared from his grandfather’s home at Kayugi village, Masaka. The following morning, a suspicious couple was arrested. On interrogation, they confessed that they had been paid part payment of 360,000/= by Mr. Kajubi Kato to get him a head of a human being for some rituals. Mr. Kajubi Kato, Kateregga and his wife were arrested for interrogation. Mr. Kajubi was later charged in court with murder. He was, however, acquitted in May 2010. An appeal has been filed...

For mile 1, 2, and 3, I will be thinking of Eldrine, Mackline, and Joseph. They represent many silenced voices and many victims and are a clear indicator of what could happen to future children if we collectively stay silent and not intervene.
